ARKI_TAINER

Overview

ARKI_TAINER revolutionizes the concept of space by repurposing ISO shipping containers into versatile, modular units. Ranging from 10ft to 40ft, these containers are ingeniously transformed into customizable building blocks, akin to LEGO, to create structures that are as functional as they are aesthetically appealing. This innovative approach offers a sustainable, scalable solution for modern architectural needs.

Shipping container architecture is a form of architecture using steel intermodal containers (shipping containers) as the main structural element. It is also referred to as “ARKI_TAINER”.

The use of containers as a building material has grown in popularity due to their strength, wide availability, relatively low cost, and seen as more eco-friendly than traditional building materials such as brick and cement.

Advantages

  1. Sustainability: By repurposing ISO shipping containers, ARKI_TAINER capitalizes on existing materials, reducing the carbon footprint associated with manufacturing and transportation of new construction materials.

  2. Durability: Shipping containers are designed to withstand harsh conditions at sea, which makes them incredibly durable and suitable for constructing robust structures that can endure extreme weather.

  3. Cost-Effectiveness: The use of shipping containers can significantly lower the cost of construction due to the reduced need for new materials and the efficiency of the modular building process.

  4. Speed of Construction: Modular units can be prepared and fitted off-site, resulting in faster construction times compared to traditional building methods, with less disruption to the surrounding area.

  5. Flexibility and Scalability: ARKI_TAINER units can be easily modified, expanded, or relocated, giving them a versatile edge that is perfect for temporary or permanent structures of all kinds.

  6. Design Innovation: Shipping containers offer a unique aesthetic that appeals to contemporary design sensibilities. Their structural properties allow for creative design solutions that stand out visually.

  7. Space Efficiency: The compact design of shipping containers is ideal for maximizing use of limited space, particularly in urban environments, without sacrificing comfort or style.

  8. Global Availability: The ubiquitous nature of shipping containers means that ARKI_TAINER projects can be undertaken almost anywhere in the world, with a consistent supply of materials.

  9. Reduced Waste: Modular construction with ARKI_TAINER units generates less waste during the building process, thanks to the precision of off-site assembly and reduced on-site work.

  10. Compliance with Standards: Despite their unconventional origins, ARKI_TAINER constructions meet all relevant building codes and regulations, ensuring they are safe and habitable.
